#FIRST#,
It wouldn’t be a healthy Friday without Cinco Bala. This weeks top 5 lessons, hacks and quotes I’ve been pondering, applying and battling.
For those of you who are new, this is a concept I took from Tim Ferriss. (This is just focused on MLM and online marketing) If you don’t subscribe to his newsletter. You should do it.
Lesson in Network Marketing: Sandwich - My first mentor, Mark taught me to never correct someone without first edifying something (anything) they’re doing well and ending with a positive affirmation about the future.
Bad correction = “You made a mistake, this is how you fix it.”
Good correction = “Hey John, I am so proud of you for [insert good thing], you’re so good at it. But you made a mistake in XYZ area. I know it’s not like you to do that, it was just a mistake, next time, you could do ABC instead. By the way, I am so excited about your future man. If you just keep doing what you’re doing and pepper in ABC instead of XYZ, wow, things are going to blow up!”
If you sandwich your communication you can actually help people around you grow and they’ll love you for it, rather than resent you.
Plus, if they resent you, they won’t apply your coaching, no matter how right you are.
Remember, in order to serve people, you must have influence. To have influence, they must respect you. Don’t lose their respect for something you can learn in a $7 communication book.
Lesson in Online Marketing: Focus on your strengths - Since MLM Rebels launched, I’ve been driving the sales, operations and coaching. Well, one thing about me is…
I hate operations. Like hate it. I also HATE fielding emails.
I was willing to deal with it as things started and we proved the concept out. But at this point, it’s pulling me away from my superpower. Which is enrolling new reps and marketing. (Hint, that brings in the money and gives you people to serve.)
THANKFULLY, we’ve finally developed a plan to get the operational mumbo jumbo (which takes 10-15 hours / week) off my plate and take the fielding emails away. I’ll still be coaching and answering questions personally, just more intelligently rather than going through a billion things everyday.
We’ve only been doing it for 3 days, but I’ve already come up with 2 new ad ideas and totally redesigned the order page, which if it even bumps conversions by 1%, it was WELL worth it.
Thank God for Ashley. She is the one who is taking most of that off my plate for the next week or two. (She has a much more systemized mind.) - Once she digests all that goes into keeping Rebels running, she’ll be designing processes and offloading them to our team.
Whoopsie: Sent an Email To Everyone - We just migrated to a new email autoresponder. I’ve been using MailChimp for years (still am for some things) but we just moved almost ALL of our autoresponders and campaigns to Actionetics within ClickFunnels to keep everything under one roof. Actionetics is definitely more clunky than MailChimp but it already has features that MailChimp doesn’t and it’s only 3 years old.
Well, we had to import a bunch of our lists into Actionetics. When we did that, a good portion of my old team in Amway also got imported… whoops.
Which means they received the past two emails. Nice.
Normally that wouldn’t matter. I mean communication is a good thing right? Yes. Except when you’re trying to protect them…
See, what we teach in MLM Rebels goes VERY against the grain of how my old team builds the business. And even though I never, ever want to build a business like them again, Ashley and I have amazing friends still in Amway and that team. And we want them to succeed at the highest level at what they’re doing.
Well, how to you destroy a strong army? Not from the outside.
From inside.
Cause confusion. The greatest wars are never fought.
Well a bunch of them received an email with the MLM Rebels podcast embedded within it. Where we literally reveal how we recruit more people in a day than most of them can in a few months. Crap.
Thankfully the damage was fairly minimal (so far) - As most people on the list were bigger leaders. Those that won't be as easily shaken as they have a lot to lose and are strong in their conviction. We're praying it stays that way...
On a positive note, there were also a few people on there that are no longer active in that team because they didn’t believe in the business model. They heard the Rebels podcast and felt set free. So, if we helped set a couple people free, it’s worth it.
Quote I Love: “Don’t overestimate the world and underestimate yourself. You’re better than you think.” - Tim Ferriss
Product I’m Super Happy About: Ribbed Tee - I was searching for a V-neck t-shirt to bring to Bali for a long time. One that was made out of athletic material and looked nice, yet could be worn multiple times without washing (while sweating profusely)
Well, I think I found it. It’s called “Ribbed Tee” and they’re only sold online. I have no affiliation with them but give them a big recommendation. I should have bought a few more…
Talk soon and have a great weekend!
